The Compliance Engineer will be a part of the Emergency Planning team with a mission to ensure readiness of the Radiological Emergency Response Organization (RERO) to respond to the challenges of any Knolls, NNPP facility, or fleet radiological or all-hazard type emergency event. The main responsibilities of the Compliance Engineer will be to generate complex training exercises and facilitate their use during RERO branch training; develop, execute, and assess periodic small scale exercises for Knolls RERO teams; and to provide technical management and administration of local and NNPP emergency planning procedures and manuals. Other responsibilities of the Compliance Engineer consist of membership on NNPP emergency planning initiative working groups, support of emergency planning organizations within the NNPP, oversight of RERO branch training, involvement in the execution of full-scale site exercises and outreach events, and assisting with emergency planning equipment and facility readiness. In the course of executing the mission, the Compliance Engineer will interact routinely with emergency planning personnel from other DOE and DOD sites and periodically with Naval Reactors Head Quarters; the local Naval Reactors Field Office (NRLFO); and federal, state, and local officials.

Job Requirements

Advanced:

  • Bachelor s degree in a technical, engineering or science-related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of four years relevant experience; or
  • Master s degree in a degree in a technical, engineering or science-related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years relevant experience
  • Senior:

  • Bachelor s degree in a technical, engineering or science-related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of six years relevant experience; or
  • Master s degree in a degree in a technical, engineering or science-related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of four years relevant experience
  • Job Preferred Skills

  • Background in radiological work
  • Prior experience in reactor plant operations
  • Prior experience in a compliance role
  • Background in emergency response
